About Family Deck of Cards

Why it was made

Family Deck Of Cards was built by a physician — a neurologist with additional training in hospice and palliative care — who spends a lot of time thinking about memory, connection, and the moments that matter most to families.

The idea is simple: a photograph is more than a picture. It is a name, a place, a story, a relationship. Most of the time, our photos sit in a phone and are rarely looked at twice. This app turns your own family photos into a gentle, structured way to look, remember, talk, and connect.

The Memory Journey

The heart of the app is a six-step journey: Photo, Recognize, Retrieve, Associate, Reminisce, and Recall Later.

It is built around a simple idea used in memory practice and reminiscence work: trying to recall something yourself before being shown the answer is different from simply receiving information. Returning to it after time has passed gives the photograph and its story another moment of attention.

Connection, not a medical claim

This app does not claim to improve memory, treat any condition, or provide medical benefit. Read the full Disclaimer.

What it does try to offer is a warm and simple reason for families — especially those navigating memory difficulties together — to spend a few minutes with a photograph and a story.

Your photos stay yours

Your photos always stay on your own device. Nothing from your deck is uploaded, and no account is required to use the app.
